The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill **one full-time Métis Land Use Specialist** position within our **Energy, Infrastructure and Resource Management Department **located at 150 Henry Avenue in **Winnipeg, MB**. The Métis Land Use Specialist will engage with Red River Métis Citizens and Harvesters to better understand and document their historical and contemporary resource use, cultural and heritage resource concerns, and conservation and ecological priorities.

**_ Job Duties/Competencies:_**
- Build relationships and communicate with Red River Métis Citizens and Harvesters;
- Interview Red River Métis Citizens about their resource use and concerns;
- Work collaboratively with consultants to collect Métis traditional land use and occupancy data;
- Facilitate Citizen involvement in project planning and decision-making;
- Analyze the MMF’s Métis land use and occupancy data catalogue to further identify gaps;
- Participate in research and monitoring projects;
- Participate in the coordination and implementation of various programs and initiatives;
- Assist with the development of briefing notes, weekly and monthly reports, and general record keeping;
- Attend and coordinate community consultation meetings as necessary.

**_ Skills and Qualifications:_**
- Bachelor’s degree in social or natural sciences, or related discipline; a combination of education and experience will be considered;
- Experience in research and/or program development;
- Experience working with leadership and in community settings;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills;
- Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
