- The Metis Community Addiction Response Team Program (Metis CART) is a wraparound program that walks alongside parents who struggle with their relationship with substances and supports the family in ways that will allow their children to live with them safely._

- Our Metis Connect Program has seen great success connecting children and youth to their extended families, community and culture as well as making it possible for parents to get the extra family/ community support they need to go home safely with their babies at birth and/or reunify safely with their children again. We believe in planning around the kitchen table rather than the boardroom table. This has also allowed our agency to expand its own Kinship Care program while meeting with families._

**ONGOING CARE SUPERVISOR**

**FULL TIME, PERMANENT**

**Competition Number: MCFCS-OCS.2023.061**

**Hours of Work: 7.25 hours per day**

**Classification and Salary: SP5, $36.28 - $49.26 per hour**

**Location: Winnipeg, MB**

As a member of the Permanent Ward/Ongoing Care Department, the Supervisor will provide leadership and supervision to a team of social workers with respect to program/case management and planning. The Supervisor is responsible for the unit staff, maintain and improve and existing service delivery, manage unit workload distribution, and will implement all administrative, service and personnel policy and procedures within the unit such as child protection and assessment, casework, legal preparation, working with caregivers and collaterals and completing administrative and reporting requirements. It is the responsibility of every position to provide, where requested culturally relevant service or assist with access to such service.

**Main areas of Key Responsibilities and Activities**
- Provide supervision and consultation to a team of social workers with respect to program/case management and planning.
- Provide leadership to the service unit on the resolution of identified service and administrative issues affecting the unit.
- Assist unit team members with assessing risk, individual and family functioning and service needs, crisis intervention, service planning and short and long-term intervention.
- Oversee the completion of child protection investigations and court work required by unit team.
- Provide advice concerning the apprehensions of children at risk and coordinate the placement in appropriate and/or available settings.
- Oversee and manages service delivery of department.

**Education and Experience**
- BSW plus five years of direct child welfare experience or post-secondary degree in social services plus seven years of direct child welfare experience
- Three years’ experience working with youth and/or young adults
- Experience developing strategic plans, operational plans and proposals
- Experience in crisis intervention, abuse investigation and assessment of high risk situations

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Demonstrated understanding of Metis and Inuit culture and communities.
- Understanding of child welfare act, standards and regulations and CFSIS.
- Excellent assessment, interviewing and counseling skills.
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with people in a sensitive, tactful, diplomatic and professional manner at all time and to work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a high volume and time sensitive environment.
- Ability to work in an ethical manner and ensure integrity while maintaining confidentiality.

**Prior to commencing employment the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check upon hire at their own expense.
