Purpose of role

**Job Description**:
Key Responsibilities
- Document the relevant findings in the applicant’s file and enter the required reporting data into the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) system.
- Compose related correspondence to advise the applicant and agent of the underwriting decision in the applicant’s language of choice (French or English). As well as correspondence to the applicant’s physician to relay the reason for our underwriting decision.
- Continuous learning to enhance your underwriting expertise is expected, your participation in the medical training that is offered by a senior team member, as well as attending virtual industry educational seminars.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with field agents.
- Additional accountabilities may be added to the role

Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of underwriting experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills to make consistent and appropriate underwriting decisions according to company guidelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication in both in French and English.
- Able to work well independently while also being able to interact effectively with other members of a team.
- Must be well organized, able to handle multiple responsibilities and work within tight turn-around times.
- Knowledge of medical terminology would be an asset.
- Completed LOMA I & II courses and motivated to pursue additional educational courses.
- ALU courses desired but not required.
- Willingness and commitment to work extra hours when required as well as any additional duties that may be assigned to you.
