The primary purpose of the Executive Underwriter position is to underwrite new business and renewals in a profitable manner and according to authority level and established guidelines, and drive projects having an impact on the business. Assigned larger, more important and more complex accounts and responsible for referrals from underwriters up to the level of the EU’s authority. Utilize underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium charges and advise Product Line Leaders of market conditions or loss trends that might warrant changing the company’s underwriting approach. Understand provincial and territorial laws, including cancellation and non-renewal, to properly transact business. Knowledgeable in coverage forms and policy language; appropriate utilization of forms and exclusions. Assist with resolving premium audit disputes within assigned agents/brokers. Promotes the growth and development of less experienced underwriters and fosters teamwork.

**Responsibilities**:

- Expert understanding and proven ability to underwrite profitable business;
- Participation at underwriting meetings with senior executives from existing and prospective insureds;
- Provide policy review and rating guidance;
- Actively participate in Claims meetings and reviews;
- Quote and bind new and renewal accounts according to our underwriting guidelines and strategy;
- Actively participate in large risk strategy;
- Accept and discharge referrals from field underwriting staff;
- Maintain and adhere to all underwriting file documentation standards;
- Cultivate and improve broker relationships;
- Present innovative marketing strategies;
- Collaboration with Regional Leadership
- French is preferred

Qualifications:

- Significant underwriting experience;
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility;
- Demonstrated marketing and relationship building skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills

Elle comprend les lois provinciales et territoriales, y compris celles touchant l’annulation et le non-renouvellement, afin d’exercer correctement son activité. Elle connaît les formulaires de garantie et le langage des polices d’assurance. Elle utilise correctement les formulaires et les exclusions. Elle contribue à résoudre les litiges relatifs à l’audit des primes au sein des agents ou des courtiers attribués. Elle favorise la croissance et le perfectionnement des souscripteurs moins expérimentés et fait la promotion du travail d’équipe.

Responsabilités:

- Avoir une excellente compréhension des affaires rentables et une capacité avérée de les tarifer.
- Participer à des réunions de souscription avec des cadres supérieurs d’assurés existants et potentiels.
- Donner des conseils en matière de révision des politiques et de guide de tarification.
- Participer activement aux réunions et aux examens relatifs aux sinistres.
- Établir des devis et lier les comptes nouveaux et renouvelés conformément à nos directives et à notre stratégie en matière de souscription.
- Participer activement à la stratégie des grands risques.
- Accepter les recommandations du personnel de souscription sur le terrain et s’en acquitter.
- Soutenir et respecter toutes les normes de documentation des dossiers de souscription.
- Cultiver et améliorer les relations avec les courtiers.
- Présenter des stratégies de marketing innovantes.
- Collaborer avec les dirigeants régionaux.
- Le français est privilégié.
