**Position Summary**:
The Appeals Coordinator is responsible for the Student Appeals for Late Withdrawal process within the Office of the Registrar and is a key member of the planning team for the college’s annual Convocation ceremonies. The Coordinator provides support to the Records and Registration teams as required in support of enrolment initiatives and the student experience.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Communicates with students, academic divisions, internal college stakeholders, and/or third parties on policies and procedures related to appeal for late withdrawals and partial refund process and service level standards.
- Evaluates complex appeal requests, in consultation with management, by reviewing the student’s registration, fees, and academic history, along with submitted documentation.
- Follows up with other stakeholders to verify and gather information regarding the appeal request (e.g. academic divisions, financial assistance, accessible learning services, etc.).
- Processes the appeal decision by updating the Student Information System, adjusting the student’s registration status, amending grades, and coordinating other updates with the Registration and Student Financial Services & Fees Departments.
- Acts a key member of the Convocation team, responsible for planning and coordinating the college’s largest annual event (i.e. our convocation ceremonies).
- Provides frontline and back-office assistance to the Registration and Academic Records departments.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Educational and Experience Requirements**:

- Three-year Diploma or degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Special Events Planning, Business Administration, or other related field.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in a student service environment dealing with sensitive issues.
- Knowledge of appeals process is required.
- Experience with a student information system, such as Banner is required.
Experience with budget preparation and event planning is required.

**Skills and Attributes**:

- Excellent organization, coordination, prioritization, planning, and time management skills; solid attention to detail.
- Able to lift between 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e. boxes, paper, supplies).
- Able to travel between campuses and TMU for meetings and work offsite or travel off campus for convocation ceremonies, conferences, college fairs, and other related events.
- Demonstrated communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
