- Daily programming of telephony systems, hardware and software upgrades, regular systems maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and diagnostic testing as required
- Delivering technical support to operational IT staff members and other support teams within the organization.
- Performing daily operational activities such as telephone, video conferencing, audio/video system administration, troubleshooting and maintenance, and completion of service tickets.
- Act as an escalation point for incident resolution including interaction with vendor technicians and implement remedial procedures as required.
- Installation and cabling of equipment as required.
- Monitoring and maintaining all aspects of the VoIP telephony systems including servers, media gateways, routers, switches, and peripherals devices. Day to day operations of telephony systems including voice messaging systems and recording solutions. Must plan and perform lifecycle activities relating to these systems.
- Perform day to day moves, adds, and changes on Avaya Aura platform and provide support at offsite locations.
- Administration and technical support of the Edmonton Police Service components of the Provincial 911 system within the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) (i.e.: E911, NG911, IP Call Handling systems, 911 router & IP services, Centrex & PRI circuits, recording equipment, 911 call information logging, and connected peripheral devices).
- Act as a liaison with other PSAPs with respect to 911 network and other related issues
- Provide Tier 3 internal support for 911 systems
- Working closely with senior technical resources external to the Telecommunications Unit to reach collaborative resolutions.
- Participate in team on-call rotation to provide 24x7 response for operational services.
- Performing other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduation from a recognized Institute of Technology or University program in an appropriate specialty specifically related to Infrastructure administration and analysis and a minimum of four (4) year’s progressively responsible experience in supporting enterprise telecommunications infrastructure.
**OR **Post Secondary Diploma in a related discipline and a minimum of five (5) year’s progressively responsible experience in supporting enterprise telecommunications infrastructure.
**OR **One (1) year related certificate and seven (7) year’s progressively responsible experience in supporting enterprise telecommunications infrastructure.
- Minimum of four (4) years designing, monitoring, and securing enterprise VoIP telephone systems is required.
- Extensive knowledge and experience designing, deploying, and/or administering video conferencing, Audio/Video systems, Avaya Aura (certification preferred) Avaya Session Manager, Avaya Aura Messaging, Communication Manager, and Session Border Controllers is required.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of data networks and emerging IP technologies is required.
- Extensive experience in telco services (analog & digital Centrex lines, IBL, PRI, DSL)
- Experience working with voice recording systems is required.
- Knowledge and experience in structured cabling installation, design, and best practices.
- Experience supporting Public Safety Answering Point telephone systems would be an asset.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, teamwork, verbal, and written communication skills as well as a strong focus on customer service and troubleshooting.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license

- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. 21M, Salary Grade 032, $48.10 - $61.38 (Hourly), $3,247.20 - $4,143.80 (Bi-Weekly), $84,750.75 - $108,152.07 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
