Human Resources Assistant

**LOCATION**: Toronto, ON
**POSITION TYPE**: Fixed Term Full-time (37.5 hrs./week - 6 month contract)
**CLOSING DATE**: October 11, 2024
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to the People & Culture team including activities related to recruitment, student & volunteer management, and human resources information management.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Manage the HR file archiving project;
- Maintains accurate records and relevant filing system.
- Provide HR administrative support.
- Assist with the preparation of employment offers, verification letters, etc.;
- Assist with setting up new employees in Workforce Now (WFN);
- Maintaining employee, student, and volunteer files;
- Assist in the development of Employee Practices Manual, uploading in WFN and developing appropriate links;
- Assist with WFN reports;
- Assist with special HR projects and initiatives as needed.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**_ Education: _**
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources or 2-3 years relevant work experience.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset.
**_ Experience: _**
- 1-2 years’ experience using Human Resources Information System.
- Minimum of 1 year of working experience in an administrative or similar role.
- Previous experience with record keeping, digital records, and/or digitization is preferred.
- 1 year of experience working in a records management or archival setting
- Experience working in fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking and flexibility;
- Experience with general administrative duties.
- Knowledge of HR practices, policies and standards and general understanding of HR legislation.

- Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective time management skills;
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- An ability to be a self-starter and work effectively independently and within a team environment
- Awareness of sensitivity to diversity issues and confidentiality;
- Flexibility and willingness to carry out tasks as needed.
**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:
- Satisfactory clearance under the Police Reference Check Program.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
