Job Title: Human Resources Student Assistant
Department: Office of the CAO
Division: Human Resources
Salary: $18.92 per hour
Location: Culver Street, Simcoe, ON
Hours: 35 hours per week
Posting Period: December 2, 2024 – January 31, 2025
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting members of the Human Resources team in various functional areas. These responsibilities include preparing documentation for corporate training sessions, assisting in minute taking for HR-related meetings, data entry of statistical information, training records, and employee files, organizing request to attend documents, creating and distributing first aid/CPR posters, preparation of various correspondence, daily mail sort and distribution for HR staff, answering the HR door and phone, responding or directing calls accordingly, assisting in recruiting and short-listing applicants for vacant positions, assisting with closing recruitment files, preparing initial staffing requisitions and job postings, researching information for policies and reports, assisting with HR projects as required, filing in accordance with records management policies, completing annual file room audit review, creating FileTrail labels, accommodation, and WSIB files, distributing green books/first aid guides as required, preparing and printing staff recognition certificates, providing assistant coordinating the corporate summer BBQ, and assisting with staff development projects such as the summer book club.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must be currently enrolled in a University or College program in Human Resources, Public Administration/Political Science, Business Administration, Accounting, Office Administration, or Legal program. The individual must have the ability to work in a team environment, accept and follow verbal and written instructions, complete duties to an acceptable level of quantity and quality with minimal supervision, and follow all Norfolk County Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is also essential. Additionally, the candidate must possess excellent customer service and time management skills, strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, and a valid Class G2 Driver's License for occasional travel.
Benefits:
The successful candidate will be entitled to a competitive hourly rate of $18.92. The duration of this contract will be approximately 4 months, commencing April 30, 2025 until August 29, 2025.
