Thompson Rivers University is located in Kamloops, British Columbia. Life in the sunny interior of British Columbia provides immediate access to some of the most incredible outdoor experiences Canada has to offer ranging from winter sports at Sun Peaks Resort, to some of Canada’s best mountain biking and hiking trails, walking distance from TRU. Located between the Coastal and Rocky Mountains, Kamloops is within 30 minutes from hundreds of beautiful freshwater lakes, and only 3 hours from Vancouver. With a relatively mild winter and spectacularly warm and dry summers, Kamloops offers a high quality of life. A city with almost 100,000 residents, it is served by an airport, a hospital, a university, a WHL hockey team, an active theatre and arts community, and yet still maintains a small-town feel where commutes are rarely longer than 15 minutes.

**TRU Career & Experiential Learning Department**

**Position Information**:Co-op Coordinator**

The Coordinator will support students in their career education and development activities. The Coordinator will work with undergraduate Co-op and non students to offer individual career coaching and advising; teaching pre-employment career courses / seminars / workshop; employer liaison activities and developing employment opportunities with organizations, corporations and agencies; and being involved in the planning and organizing of career related events for students.

**DUTIES**

**Instruction and Career Coaching**
- Develop and facilitate modalities of instruction and delivery
- Instruct career courses, seminars and targeted career workshops in programs and classes across campus
- Work with employers to develop Co-op work-terms and for students
- Instruct semester sections of the pre-requisite Career Management Co-op 1000 course throughout the year
- Develop, evaluate and mark Co-op 1000 assignments and capstone projects
- Develop career based curriculum
- Conduct mid-term site visits and evaluations for students and employers
- Assess the satisfaction and learning of students
- Work with students to develop career action plans, disseminate labour market information, identify core career competencies, and assist students to make meaning of their experiential learning while at school and during the transition from school to work

**Outreach, Career Events and Administrative Activities**
- Contribute to reports that highlight career education, experiential learning and work integrated learning on campus
- Attend on-campus and community events to promote career and experiential learning opportunities for TRU students
- Work with stakeholders to offer recruitment events on and off campus
- Connect students with career opportunities
- Work with the CEL marketing committee and Faculty of Student Development marketing team to highlight career services within TRU and with external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners to create and enhance high impact experiences for students
- Assist with other duties and workload assignments as assigned by the Chair in a collegial environment
- Maintain student records and documentation
- Engage in community and employer recruitment activities to develop employment opportunities for students with organizations, corporations and agencies
- Maintain stats and generating reports for the Chairperson
- Perform other duties as required during regular and non-regular house. This may include occasional work during the evening and weekend.

**PLEASE NOTE**: Remote work is not an option as this position requires the faculty member to work primarily on the Kamloops TRU campus. Some travel may be required.
- QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum of a Master’s degree relevant to Career Education, Co-operative Education, Experiential Learning, and/or Work Integrated Learning disciplines
- Minimum of 3 years experience working in the Co-operative Education, Work Integrated Learning and/or Experiential Learning field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in career advising, employment preparation, and supporting students through the career planning and career decision making process
- Must have a strong work placement and monitoring experience
- Demonstrated instructional skills and experience in a post-secondary setting
- Must have strong attachment to business and industry, with excellent knowledge of regional, provincial, national and international labour markets/trends
- Must have strong marketing and presentation skills to communicate with various stakeholder groups
- Excellent knowledge of the recruitment and talent acq
