The CEL department operates under a Chairperson that reports to the Dean of the Faculty.

Under the direction of the TRU Career & Experiential Learning department, the Co-op Coordinator will work collaboratively as part of the CEL team to support Co-op students in their Work Integrated Learning work-terms and career education, career planning, and career development activities. The faculty Co-op Coordinator will work with alumni and prospective employers to establish, teach and monitor learning environments (work-terms) for Co-op students in the TRU Tourism program.

**Duties**

**_The Faculty Co-op Coordinator in Tourism will:_**
- Instruct semester sections of the pre-requisite Career Management Co-op 1000 course throughout the year
- Develop, evaluate and mark Co-op 1000 assignments and capstone projects
- Develop career based curriculum and instruct multiple work-term courses each semester.
- Secure, coordinate, and monitor placements of co-op students with participating organizations, corporations and agencies at a regional, provincial, and national level
- Utilize the Moodle LMS platform to develop the work-term course, assignments, and communications for students in Co-op work-terms over three semesters per year (Fall, Winter, Summer)
- Travel will be required to conduct mid work-term site visits and evaluations for students and employers over three semesters per year (Fall, Winter, Summer)
- Be responsible for promoting the Co-op program to students and prospective employers
- Market Co-op opportunities to prospective students and participate in a variety of recruitment events, career fairs, and employer information sessions
- Meet with students one-on-one to assist them in the co-op process. This will include advising students on career development, planning, Co-op guidelines, and eligibility requirements.
- Develop employer partnerships and Co-op work-term learning opportunities for students
- Maintain student records and documentation
- Engage in community and employer recruitment activities to develop employment opportunities for students with organizations, corporations and agencies
- Maintain accurate records and entering confidential information on the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system (Symplicity)
- Maintain stats and generating reports for the Chairperson
- Perform other duties as required
- The work week for this position is primarily Monday through Friday, but may require evening and weekend work
- QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum of a Master’s degree relevant to Career Education, Co-operative Education, Experiential Learning, and/or Work Integrated Learning disciplines
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the Co-operative Education, Work Integrated Learning and/or Experiential Learning field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in career advising, employment preparation, and supporting students through the career planning and career decision making process
- Extensive understanding of the Tourism industry along with strong work placement and monitoring experience
- Must have strong attachment to Tourism business and industry, with excellent knowledge of regional, provincial, national and international labour markets/trends
- Demonstrated instructional skills and experience in a post-secondary setting
- Must have strong marketing and presentation skills to communicate with various stakeholder groups
- Excellent knowledge of the recruitment and talent acquisition process
- Superior time management, written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations, including students, employers, faculty, deans, administrators and alumni
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team that works in a centralized work environment
- Must have a proven track record in meeting deadlines and follow through on tasks
- Must have a high degree of professionalism and be able to work effectively in a team
- Proficiency in MS Office software, database programs, Banner and Learning Management Systems like Moodle is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
