**Description**

The University of Calgary, **Faculty of Nursing** is seeking a **Sessional Nursing Instructor **to teach undergraduate level clinical courses within the community of Cold Lake, Alberta, for the **Winter Semester 2025** semester as follows:
**Winter Semester (January 1, 2025
- April 30, 2025)**
- TERM 6
- NURS 499 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices IV): Chronic Care (med/surg placements)_

We are seeking applicants with nursing practice experience in rural acute care, chronic care, and perinatal care environments, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. The successful applicants are required to be available during that entire period(s). Applicants who are interested in teaching the lab or clinical alone are invited to apply. Please indicate in the cover letter if available for the lab, clinical, or both. Travel will be required between clinical sites. (Please note: Mileage for instructor travel may be covered.)

**Schedule**:
Winter Term: Lab (St. Paul Campus) Monday 1330-1630; Clinical Days/Evenings, Thursdays, and Fridays

**Teaching Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate onsite and remote low to mid-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Learning Centre
- Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in acute and chronic (medical/surgical) care environments
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance
- Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus
- Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice

**Qualifications**:
**Applied Experience**:

- Rural practice experience related to semester focus
- Broad experience across a variety of areas
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students

**Enhanced Abilities**:

- Application of adult teaching/learning principles
- Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Evaluation and promotions of student problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
- Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
