**Description**

The University of Calgary, **Faculty of Nursing** is seeking **Sessional Nursing Instructors** to teach an undergraduate level clinical course within Siksika First Nation, for the **Winter Semester 2025** as follows:
**WINTER SEMESTER (January 1 - April 30, 2025)**

**_ TERM 6 - NURS 499 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices IV): Chronic Care (med/surg placements) _**:

- We are seeking applicants with nursing practice experience working with Indigenous peoples in acute and chronic care environments, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience with Indigenous nursing students. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. The lab will occur at the Old Sun Community College and the clinical will occur at a healthcare centre in Calgary. Applicants who are interested in teaching the lab or clinical alone are invited to apply. Please indicate in the cover letter if you are available for the lab, clinical, or both. (Please note: mileage for instructor travel may be covered) _

The successful applicants are required to be available during that entire period(s).

**Teaching Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate onsite and remote low to mid-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Learning Centre at Wainwright Health Center
- Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in acute care and chronic care
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance
- Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus
- Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice

**Qualifications**:
**Applied Experience**:

- Rural and Indigenous health practice experience related to semester focus
- Experience engaging respectfully with Indigenous Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers
- Broad experience across a variety of areas
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students

**Enhanced Abilities**:

- Application of adult teaching/learning principles
- Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Evaluation and promotions of student problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
- Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
