HomeFront is a leading agency in coordinated community response to domestic violence in Calgary. Our mission is to create a safer community for all, through the elimination of domestic violence in our city. HomeFront works in close collaboration with Calgary Police Service, Calgary Prosecutors, Calgary Probation Officers, Children’s Services, and various community resources to provide wrap around service to our clients. HomeFront clients represent a cross section of our city’s population, and our services are open to all genders, ages, and includes a broad definition of domestic relationships (intimate, parent/child, extended family etc.). We are currently looking for an exceptional individual to join our case management team who will bring a diverse skill set in client service and are interested in focusing those skills within domestic violence intervention.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Indigenous Peoples history, cultures, communities, an understanding of the harms of colonization, systemic racism, and familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) calls to action.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with Indigenous people, families, and indigenous community resources.
- Experience integrating cultural traditions into case management practice.
- Well-developed client work including rapport building and interview skills with a trauma informed focus.
- Keen interest and foundational knowledge of domestic violence and the justice system.
- Excellent communication skills for over the phone client support and written case notes.
- Proven ability to create key working relationships and advocate on behalf of clients.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with efficiency, superior organization, and prioritization skills.
- Understanding and appreciation of Indigenous worldviews.
- Understanding and appreciation of restorative justice.
- Ability to demonstrate skillful experience in crisis situations and safety planning.
- Ability to work in collaboration with community partners.

**Accountabilities & Responsibilities**:

- Contact new clients once file is assigned through Client and Community Engagement (CCE) and conduct assessments (Abuse History, Danger Assessment,)
- Provide professional and proactive support to HomeFront clients (and their families when required) from inception of case through to transition within continuum or the file is closed.
- Remaining in tune and responsive to client needs and file complexity to provide comprehensive support that enhances client safety and empowerment.
- Through meaningful client engagement and interview strategies conduct safety planning, risk assessment, resourcing, and referrals.
- Provide trusted and appropriate community referrals to clients and their families to increase safety, provide for basic needs, build community support system; provide mental health support and increase client confidence.
- Expediently provide summary of relevant client and case manager assessment information to D.V justice response partners (Prosecutor, Calgary Police Service, Children’s Services, and Probation) to create the most efficient and effective justice response to each individual case.
- Participate in specialized domestic violence court room.
- Crisis intervention for client when necessary for suicidal ideation, homicide or familicide concerns; activating appropriate response from CPS, Treatment & EMS.
- Provide outreach support to clients when deemed necessary and coordinated with the Program Coordinator for client safety and engagement.

**Education/Experience**:

- A BA Criminal Justice, BSW or BA in social services field with minimum 1-2 years’ experience, or diploma in related discipline and minimum 2-3 years’ experience working within the Domestic Violence sector and/or working with Indigenous families and communities.
- Experience working with law enforcement, Calgary and Area Child and Family Services and/or the justice systems considered an asset.
- Experience in short-term crisis intervention situations preferred.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities considered a strong asset.

**Clearance Requirements**:
This clearance takes 3-6 weeks to have completed. A Calgary and Area Child and Family Services Intervention Check is also required. Both clearances are required to come back successful before a position may be offered.
