Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute (“CHEO RI”) is the research arm of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario - Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (“CHEO”) and an affiliated institute of the University of Ottawa. RESPONSIBILITIES

This Summer Student will work with the ACHWM team to support communities using ACHWM to improve the health of Indigenous children. The student will be engaged in at least one of 3 current research projects and will be required to present results at the CHEO Serge Taillon Summer Student Research Day in August 2023.
- Contribute to a growing body of knowledge in Indigenous children's health
- Expand your knowledge regarding research practices and knowledge translation incorporating Indigenous wisdom
- Respond to the need of Indigenous communities and in culturally responsive ways
- Maintain a strengths-based approach across the ACHWM initiative
- Assist in the implementation of the ACHWM with Indigenous partner organizations
- Assist in data entry, transcription and translation
- Opportunity to contribute to a peer-reviewed manuscript

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL AND ABILITIES
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health related field (preferred)
- Indigenous lived experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultures (preferred)
- Minimum of 1-2 years research experience (preferred)
- Interest in learning research procedures and guidelines governing community-based research (Essential)
- High level of organizational skills (Essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
- Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism and collaboration skills (Essential)
- Proficiency in English (an Indigenous language or French is an asset) (Essential)

WORKING CONDITIONS
- 37.5 hours per week - working Monday - Friday
- Some site visits, but primarily remote work.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- Compliance with CHEO RI’s Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy; and
- Police Record Check.

L’Institut de recherche du Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l’est de l’Ontario (« IR de CHEO ») est l’organisme de recherche du Centre de traitement pour enfants du Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l’est de l’Ontario situé à Ottawa (« CHEO ») et un institut affilié de l’Université d’Ottawa. L’IR de CHEO travaille à l’acquisition de nouvelles connaissances et de données probantes pour soutenir le CHEO dans sa prestation de soins de classe mondiale à nos enfants. Notre mission à l’IR de CHEO est de mettre en relation des talents et des technologies exceptionnels, dans le but de mener des recherches permettant de changer la vie de chaque enfant, adolescent et famille de notre communauté et d’ailleurs.

RESPONSABILITÉS

Cet étudiant d’été travaillera avec l’équipe ACHWM pour soutenir les communautés qui utilisent l’ACHWM pour améliorer la santé des enfants autochtones. L’étudiant participera à au moins un des trois projets de recherche en cours et devra présenter ses résultats lors de la Journée de recherche des étudiants d’été Serge Taillon du CHEO en août 2023.
- Contribuer à un corpus croissant de connaissances sur la santé des enfants autochtones
- Répondre aux besoins des communautés autochtones de manière adaptée à leur culture
- Maintenir une approche basée sur les forces dans l’ensemble de l’initiative ACHWM.
- Contribuer à la mise en œuvre de l’ACHWM avec les organisations autochtones partenaires
