JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Roads and Parking Services is to provide integrated, safe and efficient maintenance of the City's road right of way and transportation system and the management of parking functions.

You are responsible for carrying out roads maintenance activities within the assigned geographic area.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Student - minimum completion of Grade 10

Minimum of 1 year but less than 2 years of related experience is required

Previous experience working in outdoor environment performing physical labour work associated with roads maintenance activities

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulatedKNOWLEDGE
  • Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures.
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability and willingness to operate small and light equipment (e.g. lawnmower, trimmer, leaf blower, etc.)
  • Must be able to:
  • Follow directions
  • Work responsibly with minimum supervision
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to lift heavy objects
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • CSA approved work boots are required and have own transportation.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
  • Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
