**Working for GlycoNet**
GlycoNet is a world-leading network of glycomics researchers, trainees, government laboratories, and industry partners with the common goal of addressing key challenges in one health and providing glyco-based solutions. GlycoNet’s Administrative Centre is located on the University of Alberta campus and is responsible for the daily operations of GlycoNet.
As part of its mandate, GlycoNet funds and supports research projects, develops strategic partnerships, enables technology translation, commercialization and company creation, and provides outstanding training. GlycoNet also leads GlycoNet Integrated Services (GIS), a distributed glycomics service facility across seven Canadian institutions funded by CFI-MSI.
**Position Summary**
The Training and Project Management Coordinator plays a vital role within GlycoNet, supporting its mandate to advance glycomics research through education, training, and collaborative project management. Reporting to the Program Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating and monitoring training initiatives, serving as the point of contact for internal and external training programs, managing project documentation, and compiling reports to ensure that the GlycoNet network functions efficiently. This role includes an emphasis on supporting research grant competitions, assisting with client services for the UAlberta Core Services, and preparing reports that contribute to the broader goals of the organization.
**Duties**
Training Coordination and Support
- Implement and manage training programs for GlycoNet trainees, including identifying training needs and working with stakeholders to design relevant initiatives.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders to support program marketing and provide information on training opportunities.
- Gather and analyze trainee feedback, ensuring effective program evaluation and reporting insights to management.
- Support the coordination of events, workshops, and fellowship programs to enhance skill-building and career development for Network trainees.
Project Management and Reporting
- Maintain the project database, consolidating information on project milestones, outcomes, and challenges.
- Interact with clients for the GIS Core Services, generating service quotes and maintaining financial and service records.
Administrative and Financial Support
- Compile quarterly financial reports, monitor key performance indicators for GIS, and identify any challenges or areas for improvement.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to training and project coordination, including document management and support for annual meetings and conferences.
- Support the Program Manager and CEO in maintaining up-to-date reporting and ensuring program alignment with GlycoNet’s strategic priorities.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in science, with a preference for a background in life sciences; a minor in business is considered an asset.
- At least 1 year of experience in project management or coordination, ideally within the life sciences sector (internship or student experience included).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including experience with basic Excel formulas such as SUM functions.
- Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
- Proven team player with a proactive approach, capable of taking initiative and working effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
