Minimum: $62,239.00
Maximum: $85,578.90

**LOCATION**:BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS; Hope to Health Research and Innovation Centre; 625 Powell Street, Vancouver, BC

**ORGANIZATION**: The BC-CfE currently employs a team of Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, Data Managers, Clinical Research Assistants, Data Analysts, and Data Entry Clerks who work collaboratively on cohort-based epidemiological and clinical studies, and a program of qualitative research. The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Research Centre including Research Laboratory, Clinical Trials, Drug Treatment Program, Epidemiology, and Professional Education Programs.

Our programs include Hope to Health, an innovative, multidisciplinary, “wrap-around” health clinic and harm reduction program serving Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES).

**JOB**: Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, including the Director of the Epidemiology & Population Health Program, the Research Coordinator assists in the planning, development, and implementation of the Hope To Health Engagement and Retention Evaluation (HERE) Study and other studies focused on substance use, mental health, HIV and HCV among residents of the DTES.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Coordinates the implementation, and monitoring of the HERE Study, a cohort study of clients of the Hope to Health clinic which is examining new and existing approaches to retaining marginalized populations in effective primary health care.
- Supervises data collection through in-person surveys administered by Peer Research Associates.
- Coordinates multi-disciplinary research teams.
- Supports a team of peer research associates (PRA) and engages in community-based capacity building and development.
- Contribute to the design and creation of communications and public relations tools; coordinate meetings among community, staff, research teams, and support staff
- Assist with various administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of research studies and projects.
- Support data analysis, grant writing, and academic manuscript development.
- Prepare and develop abstracts, posters, and other presentations for conferences and knowledge translation events.
- May work closely with professionals in the community and be involved in creating publicity to promote research, providing information to and between a wide range of organizations and groups.
- Support, develop, and evaluate strategies that encourage community participation in research activities.
- Perform administrative work, including written correspondence, preparing submissions and reports and managing daily finances of study
- Perform other duties as required

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, or related fields and two years of related professional experience in a health research setting.

Experience working in the DTES or with other complex populations, and/or working in addiction, mental health public health, HIV or hepatitis are assets.
- Clear understanding of the academic research process acquired through both practical and academic experience
- Understanding of the structural and social determinants of health, including the challenges faced by residents of the DTES; dedication to work with and for social justice, health equity, and the DTES community.
- Strong understanding of epidemiologic methods and experience interpreting epidemiologic data
- Experience in preparing documents, reports, and communication materials for mass distribution and tailoring to specific audiences
- Strong writing skills and an analytical mind
- Must be a self-starter and work well independently
- Ability to problem solve and navigate issues brought forward from clinic staff, peers, and study participants
- Excellent project organization, implementation, and networking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity issues, with a commitment to social inclusion issues
- Experience working with vulnerable/marginalized populations
- Detail-oriented, organized and prepared
