**Payroll Coordinator**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Payroll Coordinator provides leadership on all aspects of payroll ensuring all KEI employees (Executive, Hourly and Salary) are paid accurately and on time in compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK PERFORMED**:

- Takes the lead responsibility for managing the day-to day operations of payroll administration.
- Reviews and analyzes documentation provided by internal stakeholders (e.g. Supervisor/Manager) to ensure accuracy/completeness, following up where necessary
- Works with OHN on creating and scheduling payments arising for WI/STD cases.
- Prepares payroll data and submits to service provider for payment processing, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy and making any necessary corrections.
- Implements wage adjustments, bonuses, commissions and other special payments.
- Ensures that all remittances, deductions and dues have been handled in time and according to legislation.
- Administers Registered Retirement Savings Plan / Deferred Profit Sharing Plan; member of the Retirement Committee;
- Balances the payroll accounts by resolving discrepancies.
- Develops, organizes and processes payroll reports; ad hoc, weekly, monthly and year end.
- Maintains records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries.
- Complies with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintains employee confidence by keeping information confidential.
- Works with members of Employee Services to help drive department goals and objectives.
- Advises on opportunities for continuous improvement of payroll function; manages related projects.
- Prepares process/procedure documentation and able to cross train others in the department on Payroll functions.
- Primary contact for Payroll software/service providers.
- Adheres to all health and safety practices.
- Comply with all management systems to which KEI subscribes (ex. Quality and Environmental systems).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Education and Qualifications**:

- Post secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration, Payroll or Human Resources.
- CPA designation or working towards.
- Minimum 5 years payroll experience, preferably in a large plant facility.
- Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce HCM preferred.
- Knowledge of product quality standards and the importance of your activities in achieving, maintaining, and improving quality, including customer requirements and the associated risks to customers of non-conforming products.

**Skills Required**:

- Advanced computer skills including MS Office and Crystal Reports
- Basic accounting
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Must be self motivated.
- Highly organized with attention for detail and accuracy.
- Able to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Up to date knowledge of payroll and employment legislation including but not limited to; CRA, WSIB, EHT and ESA

- The ability to meet tight deadlines while producing quality and consistent work.
- Flexible in hour’s availability to meet payroll and company deadlines.
