Episodic Animation Supervisor

Job Summary
The Episodic Animation Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of animators in creating performance and motion for characters and objects based on storyboards, animatics, and other visual references. An organized, creative problem solver with a history of high-end aesthetic and technical execution is essential for this role.
**Responsibilities**:
Mentor and lead animators in a constant effort to improve overall quality, while working efficiently to meet deadlines. Create lip-sync, facial, and body character animation as well as prop animation. Partner with the Director/Client and other departments to understand and execute creative direction. Managing a balance of quality and productivity, while hitting the higher quotas associated with an episodic project, as well as maintaining consistency across all episodes. Communicate work status to the Production Management staff. Attend dailies, provide critique and comments, and ensure that revisions are completed in a timely manner. Work closely with the Director, other Departmental Supervisors, and the Animation team to complete work in accordance with the style of the show Review animatics on a regular basis to predict challenges that may come up throughout the episodes and distribute work throughout the team. Learning the internal Animation pipeline and toolsets, and working within these parameters before proposing changes/adjustments/additions to the workflow. Support and mentor animation team, focusing on strengths within the team when assigning workload. Review animation completed by the team and assign revisions as required, using the leads and seniors as your point of contact. Review all completed animation and revisions prior to submitting work to the Director. Complete creative revisions required as called by the Director or Client Ensure that all internal and external deadlines are met for the entire Animation department. Resolve problems or concerns within the Animation department in a productive and positive manner and know when to bring issues that are beyond the scope of the Animation Department to the attention of higher ups and/or other department supervisors.
**Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s Degree in Animation, Computer Animation, or related field; or equivalent professional experience A minimum of 7 years of experience in Feature Film and/or TV series, Commercial production with an emphasis on animation. A minimum of 2 years of previous experience as an Animation Supervisor on a production series Strong demonstration of animation principles, timing, and acting choices Solid understanding of walk cycles, lip sync, facial animation, and character timing Senior level in animation. Demo Reel demonstrates excellent character performance skills and multiple animation styles. Ability to create broad and subtle styles of animation. Knowledge of character rigging solutions and ability to communicate with the rigging team, and/or suggesting animation workarounds whenever possible due to the tighter schedules of episodic projects. Proficient with the latest version of Maya and/or equivalent programs. Proven ability in managing projects from concept to completion. Able to prioritize appropriately and meet deadlines and multitask overlapping episodic schedules. Ability to work in a team environment, take direction, and provide feedback to artists in various locations, both in-studio and remotely. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
