Job Summary

The Episodic IO/VFX Editor is an individual contributor that carries out assigned aspects of animated episodic editing work in support of the team, while helping execute and maintain Editorial related tasks on a daily basis. This role liaises with client Editorial ensuring all information and updates are relayed to the team whilst working in collaboration with internal Supervisors, Producers and Coordinators to make sure all deliverables are correct, QC’d to the highest standards, whilst keeping to tight deadlines. Primarily responsible for editorial project organization and maintenance, receipt and ingest of editorial source materials, export and publish to internal and external teams, including updating current cuts with the latest shots for daily Supervisors reviews and ensuring Insight is up to date with information. This will include QCing scans, managing all data received from the client with quality control in mind, organizing and updating on the servers as well as Insight.

**Responsibilities**:

- Round trip storyboards in AVID. - Responsible for monitoring disk servers, performing backups/restores, and handling incoming/outgoing data transfers while adhering to security & workflow protocols. - Liaises with client Editorial on a regular basis for any shot/cut updates and changes, communicates them to the editorial and production teams across dual locations, ensuring good communication exchange and sharing of edit information, as well as meeting productivity and quota targets and updating Insight. - Uploads/downloads and maintains data and asset tracking to and from clients and vendors, prepares deliveries back to them, and exports sequence edits for internal and client approvals. - Clean ups, preps, and exports sequences for internal and external project contributors. - Participates in preparation and organization of editorial materials related to the show, previews and tape outputs, communicates edit changes to internal teams as needed to keep the production in line with the latest story changes. - Ensures materials received from shot departments conform to the latest edit and meets quality control standards established by the project leadership teams. - Edits and mixes rough sound effects as needed. - Assists in organizing, storing, handing, and lining up digital and photographic elements. - Organizes directories and files in a logical manner. - Imports test, secondary and final animation during production. - Able to understand and communicate IO/VFX Editorial terminology to Production. - Ensures the final edit list for both picture and sound are delivered to the appropriate vendors in preparation for distribution. - Compiles and maintains continuity and integrity issues list. - Sets up dailies and operates the screening room system for internal dailies and client reviews, often in various locations and using different playback equipment. - Monitors servers and studio queue system, escalates issues as needed, troubleshoots and corrects failing tasks. - Partners with the production team to ensure shots are scheduled and delivered in a timely manner and provides timing and cut info to management. - Verifies Insight is maintained with current shot counts, frame ranges and any retime or repo instructions. - Ensures published shots conform to the current edit and perform Editorial QC checks involving color, resolution, and timing.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s (BA) or university degree, or equivalent experience - A minimum of 2 years of experience in episodic animation - Knowledge of key numbers, timecodes and frames, as well as video codecs, compressions and file formats - Detail-oriented with excellent written & verbal communication skills - Technical expertise or equivalent experience with Avid and Premiere required for the project set up, organization, and maintenance - Understands audio files within an animation environment - Experience with Photoshop, FLIX, After Effects and ProTools. - Experience in handling picture and sound/dialogue cutting management on a non linear editing system - Solid knowledge of episodic terminology, techniques, editing styles and mixing - Exercises independent decision making and creative judgment in the development of projects - Troubleshoots, multitasks, prioritizes, and works well with others - Communicates creative and technical thoughts and ideas to coworkers, takes direction - Thrives in a high pressure, deadline-oriented environment
