Mental Health Lead

Permanent, full-time

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board provides Catholic education to 6,000 plus students in 18 schools throughout the area of Greater Sudbury. The City of Greater Sudbury is centrally located in Northeastern Ontario at the convergence of three major highways. It is composed of a rich mix of urban, suburban, rural and wilderness environments. Greater Sudbury is considered a city of lakes, containing 330 lakes and has the largest lake contained within a city.

Our School Board is host to and celebrates diverse cultures and is comprised of dedicated staff committed to high quality education that inspires and promotes lifelong learning. The Board is currently seeking a Mental Health Lead to join our dynamic team.

Reporting to the Superintendent of School Effectiveness, the Mental Health Lead will use their clinical experience to work within the School Mental Health Ontario framework to develop and support a board - wide Mental Health Strategy and Action Plan. The Mental Health Lead will l iaise, participate in and implement all Ministry of Education expectations related to School Mental Health.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification

Masters’ degree in a related discipline (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatry), other equivalent educational backgrounds may be considered

Registered health professional and member in good standing of a Professional regulatory board in Ontario (e.g., Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers)

Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health service delivery (promotion, prevention, intervention) as a mental health professional working with children and youth.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working within a school board setting is an asset
Leadership experience an asset
Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid, and CPR are assets

REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of available community agencies and resources
Strong working knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act
Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families; such as, child protection, special education, and privacy
Knowledge and understanding of the resources available through School Mental Health Ontario
Working knowledge of the Education Act
Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act
Experience with supervision (case management) in the area of social work and/or mental health
Experience working with school age children and youth
Experience implementing evidence-based programming
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to build a cohesive team
The ability to use data to inform practice
Developed assessment, interviewing, and counselling skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to function effectively with administrators, staff, parents, students, outside agencies and others
Ability to develop and present training sessions
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
Proficient computer skills, including word processing
Excellent discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to provide regular attendance
Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle

Salary range is $101,218.00 to $126,534.00, with a comprehensive benefit package.
