The Department of Indigenous Studies is situated within the College of Arts and Science and takes an interdisciplinary academic focus. We offer BA, BA Honours, MA, and PhD programs. A dynamic unit, we currently have 9 faculty members, including two research chairs, with additional associate and adjunct members from other departments and institutions. Indigenous Studies is dedicated to the development of applied and theoretical investigations of Indigenous concerns and strategic community-based research. It is also dedicated to servicing the Indigenous Studies content needs of other academic programs in the university on and off-campus. Primary Purpose: Over the 14 weeks of this project, this position will have three primary objectives. Objective one is to create and implement a project management framework utilizing Microsoft Office to align project timelines and tasks for team members. Objective two will be to locate and collect primary documents for each of the chapters, as well as secure archival permissions for each item. Objective three will be to assist the researchers to craft a book proposal and submit to the University of Toronto Press.

Nature of Work: The undergraduate student selected for this project will be involved in the development of the project timelines and workplan. As a member of the team, they will be responsible for implementing the project management framework in Microsoft Office and will assist with setting up tasks, monitoring timelines, communications, and competing forms necessary for archival research such as permissions, freedom of information requests, or booking appointments for research. Students will be trained in archival research, data management and the preparation of book proposals and literature reviews. The undergraduate Research Assistant will participate in data analysis, and support and be involved in any community engagement projects. This project provides an opportunity for an undergraduate student to obtain critical skills in research project management, communications, time management and the preparation of scholarly publications.

  • Digital project management through Microsoft office

Education: Fourth year student in Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan

Experience:

  • Microsoft Office online

Skills:

  • Excellent written communication and digital communication skills, organizational skills, time management skills.

Ability to:

  • work independently with minimum supervision while prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines
