Forestry and Parks supports the well-being of Albertans through sustainable development and management of Alberta’s lands, forests and parks.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Join our dedicated team at Alberta Forestry and Parks, where your expertise in policy development will guide the sustainable management of Alberta’s public Lands. As a lead in rangeland management, you will harness your leadership skills to oversee complex multi-stakeholder policy projects.

This role is pivotal in maintaining and nurturing strategic alliances that promote shared stewardship of our rangelands. You will engage with various ministries, identifying synergies and developing unified strategies to enhance agricultural management on public land.

Your influence to shape policies and tools, with creative solutions will balance ecological stewardship with the economic needs of our community, navigating the complex interplay of environmental concerns, and emerging indigenous interests. This role demands a high degree of empathy and advanced problem-solving skills to develop policies that support rangeland policy ensuring Alberta remains a leader in environmentally responsible land management.

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:

- A University Degree in: Agriculture, Rangeland Management, Natural Resource Management, Public Administration, Public Policy.
- 4 years progressively responsible experience in a related field.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience may be considered based on:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year education**Assets**:

- Knowledge of rangeland management and agricultural practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of related legislation, regulations, policies, and the decision-making processes.
- Proficiency in natural resource and cumulative effects management.
- Familiarity with ministry strategic plans, objectives, mandates, and the policy development process.
- Technical and scientific knowledge concerning environmental issues and biodiversity.
- Ability to anticipate future issues and their impacts on Ministry mandates, strategies, and commitments.
- Capacity to build and maintain productive relationships with various stakeholders within and outside the GoA.
- Leadership in managing diverse, multi-disciplinary projects and processes.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex issues and synthesize actionable recommendations.
- Independence in task execution with general direction, coupled with agility to handle broader policy initiatives as assigned.
- Exceptional organizational management skills to balance competing demands and tight timelines.
- Advanced strategic and systems thinking capabilities.
