About You and this Role
Dow is seeking an Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Technician to join our team in Fort Saskatchewan.
In this role, you will share responsibility for the implementation of the ES&S management system in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. Additionally, you will provide hands-on emergency services and security activities for the Fort Saskatchewan site.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of documented equipment maintenance, training and operational check requirements and amending, as needed, to match global/local templates.
- Ensure that all maintenance training and operational check requirements meet global/local templates and that all emergency preparedness tasks performed are value adding leading to all emergency systems/equipment being ready for any emergency response.
- Help develop operating disciplines and use them to conduct emergency preparedness work and document performance.
- Complete the emergency preparedness tasks as per the site ES&S Preparedness Plan including Operating Discipline. Review emergency preparedness task list annually to confirm tasks are value added.
- Provide feedback regarding any discrepancies to the proper step in the site ES&S Preparedness Plan.
- Operate emergency response equipment.
- Enact emergency response plans.
- Execute the applicable scenarios from the emergency response plan or the alternate response plan and use operating discipline to complete the response to the emergency.
- Work with all security personnel in the preparation of secure asset plans and the development of operating discipline to execute secure asset tasks.
- Act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience (i.e. Emergency Response or Brigade experience, etc.)
- Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment. Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.
- A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.
Preferred Skills
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 & Level 2 Certification
- NFPA 1006 Technician Certification
- Prior experience with Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) or equivalent
- Prior experience or knowledge of Emergency Medical Services
- Occupational Safety and Health
- Interpersonal Communication
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work
