About you and this role:
The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Technician located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Performs routine chemical analyses of various hydrocarbon streams and raw materials.- Collects samples according to the Sample Plan.- Ensures measurement systems are in calibration and suitably maintained prior to use- Performs routine calibration, verification, and maintenance procedures per defined schedule and maintains documentation.- Use appropriate quality assurance/quality control checks to ensure acceptable instrument performance and data quality.- Uses advanced statistical tools to measure analytical system performance and to evaluate validation results including accuracy, precision, bias and LOD.- Perform moderate to advance troubleshooting of analytical instruments in multiple areas of analytical technology.- Assist in the installation, method development, validation, and technical documentation for new MET (most effective technology) analytical methodology and systems.- Documents, communicates and archives analytical results and calibration data.- Follows EH&S and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.- Perform non-routine analyses when needed- Monitor and maintain reagents, standards and consumable items.- Satisfy all safety and quality requirements of the department. Actively participate in the department safety and quality program.- Willing to work a 12-hour rotational day shift schedule with hours from 7 AM to 7 PM. Requires flexibility to switch between 12 hour day shift and 8 hour Monday - Friday day role if required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a 2-year college diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent.- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial lab role or lab technologist role (analytical lab role).- Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift.- A current, valid driver’s license is required.- Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment. Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.- A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.
Preferred skills:
- Experience in running, maintaining, and troubleshooting gas chromatographic systems.
