Veterinary Technician

Heartland Fort Veterinary Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Veterinary Technician to join our enthusiastic team. **NEW GRADS WELCOME**

**We are a new,** **privately owned**, 1.5 Veterinarian(s), 2 Registered Veterinary Technologists (you would be the third), full-service small animal hospital in Fort Saskatchewan, AB (just 15 mins from Edmonton and 10 mins from Sherwood Park).

Our state of the art hospital has been built to provide a fear free visit for all our patients. We have digital x-ray, in-house IDEXX lab, fecal/cytology analyzer, ultrasound, client communication software, electronic monitoring software, and Neo computer software.

**Duties**:

- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Assist with diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays and ultrasounds
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Monitor anesthesia during surgeries and recovery periods
- Provide post-operative care and monitor patients' vital signs
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and answer their questions or concerns

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma from an accredited school in Veterinary Technology
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and procedures
- Proficiency in collecting and performing laboratory tests
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate pet owners effectively
- Compassionate nature and ability to handle animals with care
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
