**About Us**:
The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment, where tomorrow’s physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,200 staff.

**Responsibilities**:
The Administrative Officer will ensure the smooth and efficient coordination of administrative operations for the TRanslational Initiative to De-risk NeuroTherapeutics (TRIDENT) platform, as well as supporting research administration activities within the Schulich Research Office. The role will provide guidance and support for a wide range of administrative, human resources, and financial functions and processes, and ensure they are carried out in compliance with all of Western's relevant administrative policies and procedures. The Administrative Officer will assist in the resolution of administrative issues, monitor and manage physical and financial resources and will ensure that stakeholders within the platform have the necessary support, information, documentation and resources. The role will also provide event support, participate in relevant committees, and support the dissemination of communications and outreach materials aimed at enhancing the reputation and awareness of the platform.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate Degree in Business Management/Administration, Accounting, or related field
- Completion of, or working towards, Canadian Institute of Management (CIM), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred

**Experience**:

- 3 years of experience providing administrative, human resources and financial support in a complex research and/or academic environment
- Experience supporting operational leaders in an academic/higher education institution preferred
- Experience working with major government research programs in an academic research environment is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of various Western finance and procurement functions and processes
- In-depth knowledge of principles of writing, including grammar and style, argument, and coherence and attention to detail, proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
- In-depth operational knowledge of e-communication tools including website and graphic design principles and of social media platforms relevant to research and academia
- Knowledge of general office procedures, financial budgeting and principles and Human Resources principles and practices
- Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
- Communication skills to translate information into easily understood terms, summarize information, provide a rationale for action and to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
- Customer service skills to understand customer needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
