The Department of Athletics and Recreation at the University of Toronto strives to create a respectful and inclusive environment that promotes opportunity and overall well-being through physical activity. The department offers a variety of indoor and outdoor programming at multiple locations including the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre and outdoor facilities, to encourage participation at all levels and to suit the needs of our students, staff, faculty and alumni.

Working under the general direction of the Director, Physical Activity, Sport & Wellness, with day to day supervision by the Supervisor, Sport Programs, the Coordinator, Sport Programs will assist the Supervisor, Sport Programs with the continuum of sport offerings including competitive, intramural, instructional, and drop-in programming. With a focus on student experience, the incumbent will lead the coordination, planning, logistics, delivery, and evaluation of sport programs, as well as the introduction of new sport options. The Coordinator, Sport Programs will also oversee the training and work of casual/student staff in the unit.

The incumbent must be able to work variable shifts depending on the program needs and scheduling, which will include some evenings and weekend hours.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Overseeing day-to-day operational needs and service delivery requirements of programs
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program activities
- Conceptualizing, organizing and executing tournaments or event activities
- Conducting post-event evaluation, analysis and recommendations for changes
- Liaising with contacts to foster an ongoing continuum of opportunities for physical activity programming
- Coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars
- Providing some care to prevent physical or emotional injury or harm
- Directing the activities of casual staff

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Physical Education, Recreation or Sports Management, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Must successfully complete a current recognized Standard First Aid, AED and CPR certificate within the first 6 months of employment.
- Minimum two years of experience leading the coordination and delivery of multiple sport programs, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
- Experience planning and managing sport/recreation events and special events for diverse populations.
- Experience supervising casual or student staff.
- Strong knowledge and proven expertise in the continuum of sport programs including competitive, intramural, instructional and drop-in.
- Strong understanding of relevant protocols or policies (campus policies, sport rules, relevant legislation)
- Ability to engage and address equity, diversity, and inclusion issues in sport.
- Knowledge and/or experience using sport/recreation databases (e.g. Fusion or similar databases).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
