**Community Development Coordinator**

Applications are being accepted for the position of **Community Development Coordinator** at the Thompson Community
Centre.

Thompson Community Association works in partnership with the City of Richmond to provide services ranging from preschoolers to seniors. The facility has a large gymnasium, fitness centre, programming rooms and is surrounded by
Thompson Community Park. If you value working in a team environment and making a difference in the community this position is for you.

The Community Development Coordinator position supports the Board of Directors in planning events, managing volunteers, pursuing funding opportunities, marketing, and community outreach.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Support the Community Association Board of Directors and their initiatives.
- Lead the Community Development Committee to review and make recommendations regarding special events, projects, and partnerships.
- Assist with planning and implementation of the Annual General Meeting and Board/Staff Planning Sessions.
- Plan community events.
- Prepare and maintain budgets for events.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate volunteers for special events and programs.
- Coordinate internal and external advertising and social media.
- Liaise and maintain relationships with schools, businesses and other community organizations.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with volunteers; track volunteer hours and maintain database.
- Promote volunteer opportunities with the Community Association.
- Assist to develop, implement, evaluate and maintain records, forms, policies and procedures.
- Identify and create funding opportunities.
- Prepare written reports.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 graduations plus completion of a diploma in a related field (i.e. marketing and communication, special event planning, recreation); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years experience in a related field (i.e. marketing, communication, special events, volunteer management, or recreation); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with community boards, committees, and partners
- Experience with supervision of volunteers
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

**Hours of Work and Wages**
30 hrs/week. (Some evening and weekend work required)
Wage: $26.37/hour currently ( _$30.91-34.79/hr effective September 1, 2023)_
