**Community Development Coordinator**
Reporting to the Community Facilities Coordinator or Recreation Leader at Hamilton Community Association, the
Community Development Coordinator plans, coordinates, and produces special events, identifies and pursues funding
opportunities, manages volunteers, creates and implements a marketing and community development strategy.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Programming

Plan and coordinate all community event marketing materials.

Support the Community Association Board of Directors to implement and facilitate community forums, task forces,
meetings, and presentations.

Design, plan, coordinate, and implement all community events (e.g. Breakfast with Santa, Earth Day, Easter
Eggstravaganza, Hamilton Night Out, Lighting of the Fire Hall, Movies in the Park, Halloween Fireworks etc.)

Recruit and assign volunteers for the Community Association programs and events.

Supervisory

Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate volunteers for special events and projects.

Safety/Risk Management

Develop and implement a risk management protocol for special events or projects.

Fill out accident and incident report forms as required.

Organize the appropriate insurance for special events or projects.

Customer Service/Communication

Create and produce communication materials.

Design internal and external advertising traditional and new media promotional pieces.

Create and design media relations (e.g. media releases, story opportunities in the newspaper, etc.)

Liaise and maintain relationships with schools, businesses and other community organizations.

Liaise with the Community Development Committee to review and make recommendations regarding special events,
projects, and partnerships.

Establish and maintain regular communication with volunteers; track volunteer hours and maintain data base.

Promote volunteer opportunities with the Community Association.

Administrative

Prepare and manage budget

Create and implement a Marketing (Communication) strategy on behalf of the Community Association’s Goals and
Objectives as it relates to this position.

Prepare written reports to Association Committee’s.

Identify and create funding opportunities and develop relationships.

Write grants or partnership proposals.

Create and maintain logistic plans.

Create volunteer job descriptions as per each special event or project.

Other related duties as assigned and may vary according to each facility.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

Grade 12 graduation plus completion of a diploma in marketing and communication or special event or related field;
and two years experience in marketing and communication, special event planning, volunteer management,
budgeting, and funds development; or a equivalent combination of education and experience.

Interpersonal and conflict skills

Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Graphic Design

Police Information Check

Standard or emergency first aid & CPR

B.C Driver’s Licence

**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**

Experience with supervision of staff and volunteers

Experience working with public benefit sector

Experience working with community boards, committees and partners

**HOURS OF WORK AND WAGES**

10 hours/week (flexible schedule, some evening and weekend work required).

Wage: $26.37 - $27.16/hour (depending on experience).
