**Corporate Communications Officer**

**THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY TWELVE (12) MONTHS**

**Summary of Duties**:
Responsible for executing a variety of communications functions including maintenance of corporate website and social media presence, production of content for internal and external newsletters, and media relations.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
(These set out the principal functions of the position, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements).
- Review and update content on the City’s corporate website on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Edit and approve website content and changes by web editors in other departments.
- Maintain campaign or project specific websites/webpages that are not part of City’s corporate website.
- Prepare written content and take photographs for the City’s internal and external newsletters through independent research and interviews with City staff.
- Write and distribute news releases, media advisories and public service announcements
- Liaise with and respond to requests from members of the media.
- Maintain the Corporation’s existing social media accounts in addition to developing strategies to increase its social media presence.
- Serve as an alternate Emergency Information Officer in the absence of the Corporate Communications Officer.
- Perform other similar and related duties as required.

**Position Requirements**:

- College Diploma in Communications, Journalism or related discipline.
- Two (2) years current experience in communications or journalism.
- Knowledge of digital photography and familiarity with Canadian Press Style.
- Familiarity with web content management, website utility and website statistical reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with effective organizational and time management skills.
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to liaison with key external and internal stakeholders and to function effectively with mínimal supervision.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and current web design software (eg. Adobe Creative Suite etc.).
- Availability to work flexible hours.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s licence, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.
- Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.

**Pay Group 7 **- Minimum $55,759 annually; Maximum $61,942 annually

**Expected Work Location**:City Hall

**Hours of Work**:Currently Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
