We have an exciting opportunity for a contract Residential Support Coordinator (DCW2) to join our Family Supports team In this role you will be providing emotional and practical support to the pregnant/parenting youth and children in our program. This is a vacant contract position under OPSEU Local 258.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:

- Provide direct support to pregnant youth and new young parents to develop knowledge and skills that support healthy pregnancies and transitions to parenthood.
- Provide social and emotional support to pregnant youth and young parents living with mental health issues and trauma.
- Assess the individual strengths of each youth/young parent and use them as a foundation on which to build individual success.
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with youth/young parents and their children that foster a sense of relational safety.
- Deliver group programs
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Facilitate the development of plans of care, crisis plans and safety plans
- Actively teach, support, coach, and mentor youth in developing life skills e.g., cooking, budgeting

**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Degree or diploma of an accredited University or College with a major in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Counselling or other social science or health related discipline
- Minimum 1 year experience working with youth in a live-in environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of perinatal mental wellness, infant and early childhood development and parent-child attachment
- Current certification in Standard CPR/First Aid
- Understanding of the impact of mental health issues and complex trauma on children and youth and their families
- Ability to engage youth in all aspects of their service
- Experience in group facilitation
- Experience in creating safe and therapeutic environments to support the youth/young parents in attaining their goals

**ARE THERE BONUS POINTS?**
- Knowledge of youth/youth parent resources, community supports, and services in the region
- Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Above average written and verbal communication skills, ability to clearly present information and ensure information is documented accurately

**ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?**
- This is a contract role lasting approximately 19 months with an anticipated start date of August 14, 2023, and end date of March 31, 2025.
- This role works 41.25 hours per week, 3:00pm to 11:15pm Mondays to Fridays.
- Satisfactory Police Check with Vulnerable Sector check is required.
- Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.
- Successful completion of a Two-Step TB Test is required.
- Wage: $27.21 per hour. This includes a $3.00 per hour wage subsidy.
