**Financial Assistant**

**(Permanent, Part-time 21 hours per week)**

**Non-Bargaining Unit Position**

The Financial Assistant under the direction of the Senior Manager, Accounting and the Senior Director of Finance will be responsible for maintaining and updating the general and sub-ledgers, and the preparation of monthly reconciliations and reports. This will include responsibility for ensuring the timeliness, completeness and accuracy of all financial transactions booked to the sub-ledger and the validation through a robust reconciliation and review process; preparing reports and schedules to facilitate the timely completion of internal, external and regulatory audits and maintaining strong internal control.

**Highlights of Your Role**

**Generally**:
Provides support to the Senior Director of Finance and Senior Manager of Accounting in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the monthly financial statement close process.

Maintenance and updating of general ledger and sub-ledger systems as required.

Preparation of schedules, reports, analytical reviews and reconciliations to support the financial statements including schedules required for internal, external, tax or regulatory audits.

**Specifically**:
Coordinates accounts payable, including matching invoices with purchase order or cheque requests, confirming coding, entering invoices, running the weekly check run and reconciling the accounts.

Prepares the bank reconciliation, including cash receipts, Residence petty cash transfer entry and reconciliation, other petty cash accounts reconciliation.

Assists in preparing for auditing, budgeting, and projects.

Assists in the maintenance of all necessary finance and payroll files

Sorts/Mines large sets of data from multiple data sources (General ledger, CRM, Excel) to identify trends/variances.

**Collaborates with staff and other stakeholders**:
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting with a dotted line to the Senior Director of Finance. The position also interacts with the Chief Executive Officer, Directors, Managers and other staff across the organisation.

**Growth and Development**:
Participates in team meetings as required. Participates in all mandatory professional training provided by the Agency. Is generally working towards a CPA designation.

**Supports Organization’s Strategy**:
Actively contributes to the Agency’s Strategic Plan by participating in initiatives and committees to support the overall Plan.

Has a deep commitment to participating in equity work, including engaging in all work the agency undertakes to combat Anti-Black Racism.

**Highlights of What You Bring**

**Education**:

- Undergraduate diploma/degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent combination of directly related qualifications and experience.

**Experience**:

- Enrolled in CPA program or planning to enroll within 24 months
- A minimum of 2 years’ working experience.
- Experience in accounting for not-for-profit a strong asset.
- Specialized training in Sage 300
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, Power-point, Access
- Ability to multi-task and handle strict deadlines.
- Experience with regulatory and external audits
- Knowledge of databases

Additional Requirements
- Must be able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
- Proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 is required.
- Significant understanding and knowledge of systemic barriers and oppression rooted in colonization, racism, transphobia, classism, misogyny, moralism, ableism, and how they impact young people.
- Ability to bring an Afrocentric lens to the role is a definite asset.

**Work Hours**:

- 21 working hours per week based at 636 Kennedy Road.

**Salary Range**: $48,645 - $55,109.
