**Position Overview**

**Reporting to the Project Coordinator** the Youth Development Coordinator will work the BCRC’s Intergenerational Health and Social Services program which aims to enhance the lives of the community by providing resources, workshops, and activities to all members of the English-speaking Black community. Reporting to the project coordinator the youth development coordinator will be responsible for the outreach, recruitment, and engagement of youth and other participants to engage in our recreational and informational workshops and activities. The Youth Development Coordinator will be responsible for community outreach activities which will increase youth engagement and retention delivered by the BCRC’s Intergenerational program health and social services program.

*This is a hybrid position, with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.*

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the BCRC’s Intergenerational Health and Social Services program to recruit youth participants for workshops and activities.
- Organize and facilitate online and in-person information sessions and other recruitment activities.
- Support the project team to organize workshops, activities and events that encourage youth connections, intergenerational relationships, and community development.
- Coordinate the logistics of each workshop including accessibility needs and technical support.
- Design and prepare content for workshops such as workshop invitations, sign-up forms, and PowerPoint presentations, as well as pre-post workshop evaluations and feedback forms.
- Develop a comprehensive youth outreach plan which will retain youth participation throughout the various programs and activities within the organization.
- Performing other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- College or University student currently enrolled in a related field (sociology, psychology, social sciences, recreational leadership, social work, special care counselling, human relations, community development)
- Interest in community development, social justice initiatives, and
- Ability to engage with individuals from multiple access points (social networks, faith communities, community groups, and organizations)
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and ages (youth, families, seniors, LGBTQ2+ communities)
- Strong writing and organizational skills
- Can work well independently as well as team to support project activities
- Experience with social media & content creation
- Self-motivated, outgoing and able to build new working relationships
- Willingness to travel throughout the community for in-person workshops or events
- Experience in recruitment of participants (an asset)
- Experience facilitating online or in-person workshops (an asset)
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset

This position is created specifically for applicants to the 2023 Canada Summer Jobs program, and all applicants must meet eligibility guidelines as specified by Service Canada in order to be considered for the above position.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 weeks

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
