The City of Abbotsford is hiring for a **Director, Building Permits & Licenses**. The Director is a vital member of our Planning & Development Services Department leadership team; this position has responsibility for the overall management and operation of a busy division that includes construction-related permits and business licences. As an integral team player, you will be part of achieving the vision of Abbotsford as the most sustainable, livable, and prosperous City in British Columbia.

This unique opportunity calls for a dynamic, result oriented professional with strong communication, organizational skills, and managing people skills. The role is suited to a proven leader with a thorough knowledge of building code, applicable bylaws and regulations, as well as the Local Government Act and Community Charter. Knowledge of future trends in construction is desirable. The incumbent will also be called upon to provide policy advice to the corporate management team and council on building safety issues.
- University Degree in a related discipline and completion of the Level III certification with the Building Officials Association of BC (BOABC);
- Eligibility for appropriate trades or professional certification from appropriate associations (APEGBC, AIBC, BOABC, POABC, AScT);
- 10 years of progressive related work experience, including a minimum of five years in a management role;
- Solid knowledge of engineering principles, building code, land development and land use planning principles, municipal legislation, acts, regulations, codes, and standards related to all types of development and building construction; and
- Previous public sector experience within a unionized work setting would be considered an asset.

The salary range for this position is $159,359 - $188,024 per year.
