**Rate of pay**: $18.08 per hour

**Schedule**: Up to 24 hours per week, no guarantee of hours. Applicants must be flexible for short shifts, short notice calls, weekends and statutory holidays.

Position Summary

The incumbent provides dishwasher and porter duties and maintains cleanliness of the Food Services areas according to detailed procedures, assisting in providing service to the students, the community and the guests of Victoria University. Additionally, the incumbent will receive deliveries, place stock into storage areas and distribute products for use in Burwash Dining Hall, Ned’s Café and special events. The incumbent also assists with Food Service duties as needed.

**Duties**:
Dishwasher/Porting
- Operate a commercial dish machine to wash dishes, glassware, and cutlery according to recognized Department of Public Health standards
- Clean and sanitize dishes and other items by hand
- Scour, clean and sanitize pots and pans
- Clean and sanitize items such dish mats, carts and waste disposal units
- Load and unload dishes, glassware and cutlery from the dumbwaiters
- Put all other dishes, glassware, cutlery and kitchen wares in appropriate storage location
- Assist in unpacking and storing supplies in refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms
- Help deliver and recover food and supplies from functions across campus
- Keep equipment and work area clean and sanitized according to recognized health, safety and sanitation guidelines
- At the end of the meal, remove kitchen garbage, recycling and composting and take to designated storage location
- Sweep and mop
- Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to the lead hand/supervisor on duty
- Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms, using proper stock rotation procedures
- Reporting any deficiencies, shortages or damages in delivered goods to supervisor/ management
- Keep the refrigerators, freezers and storerooms clean and orderly
- Clear snow from entrances to Burwash Dining Hall
- Clean loading dock & composting storage cooler with high pressure sprayer
- Other duties as assigned

Housekeeping/Cleaning
- Cleans and dusts furniture, floors, hallways and stairways, using large dust mops, vacuum cleaners and other cleaning equipment
- Cleans and scrubs washrooms, including lavatories, toilets, mirrors, floors and metal fixtures
- Moves furniture within the work area when necessary
- Collects waste from floors and receptacles; removes waste from the building and takes to appropriate storage area
- Washes windows and walls as required
- Supplies paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap to receptacles in washrooms, work areas and other areas as required
- Changes light bulbs when required
- Clears exterior of entrance ways to Burwash Dining Hall of debris and garbage
- Checks to ensure Burwash Hall is secure at the end of the shift
- Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to the lead hand/supervisor on duty
- Other duties as assigned

Other
- Maintain stock levels by replenishing supplies from stock rooms
- Keep equipment and work area clean and sanitized according to recognized health, safety, and sanitization guidelines

**Qualifications Required**:
Education
High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience
Some Food Service experience is recommended but not required.

Other
Ability to maintain co-operative working relationships with staff. Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written). Physical ability to perform duties described and to use indicated equipment. WHMIS an asset.
