Hours:
Up to 44 hours per bi-weekly - various shifts and alternate weekends as required

Status:
Permanent Part-time

NUTRITION PORTER:

Delivering meal carts to patient units, processing soiled pots and pans through dishwashing machine, assembly and delivery of supplies/late trays as required, re-soaking/scrubbing pots and pans as needed, cleaning of empty meal carts, collecting soiled dish racks and empty meal carts from loading dock and Patient units and returning to kitchen.

Washing/sanitizing racks and meal carts, cleaning ware washing area and dish machine, handling totes of compostable material and garbage.

Performing cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Qualifications:

  • New hires must have grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Good manual dexterity and organizational skills
  • Good team player
  • 6 months practical and related experience
  • Food Service Worker Certificate preferred
  • Food Handlers Certificate preferred
  • Ability to read/understand short notes, brief forms, and memos
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift up to 10 kg, loading, and unloading food trucks; pushing heavy food trucks during pick up and delivery of meals
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multitask
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Required to work alternating weekends and statutory holidays
  • Work in either Warm/Humid or Cold Conditions
  • May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
