Position: Aide/Porter "Nutrition Porter"
Site: University Centre - Toronto Rehab
Department: Nutrition Services
Reports to: Supervisor
Salary Range: $21.87 - $22.94 (Start rate: $21.87 per hour in accordance with collective agreement requirements)
Hours: Up to 44 hours per bi-weekly - various shifts and alternate weekends as required
Status: Permanent Part-time
NUTRITION PORTER: Delivering meal carts to patient units, processing soiled pots and pans through dishwashing machine, assembly and delivery of supplies/late trays as required, re-soaking/scrubbing pots and pans as needed, cleaning of empty meal carts, collecting soiled dish racks and empty meal carts from loading dock and Patient units and returning to kitchen. Washing/sanitizing racks and meal carts, cleaning ware washing area and dish machine, handling totes of compostable material and garbage.
Performing cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
**Qualifications**:
- New hires must have grade 12 or equivalent education
- Good manual dexterity and organizational skills
- Good team player
- 6 months practical and related experience
- Food Service Worker Certificate preferred
- Food Handlers Certificate preferred
- Ability to read/understand short notes, brief forms, and memos
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift up to 10 kg, loading, and unloading food trucks; pushing heavy food trucks during pick up and delivery of meals
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
- Required to work alternating weekends and statutory holidays
- Work in either Warm/Humid or Cold Conditions
- May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
