The Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation is located within the Greater City of Sudbury. It has two full time employee, seasonal staff, and volunteers to assist with the preparation and execution the 3 Youth Programs, special events and fundraisers. The Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation partners with over 54 local social agencies and 35 existing camps to ensure that the youth program operates effectively. The vision of the SMCF is to be at the forefront in the provisions of experiences that give children, youth, and families the opportunity for growth and development..

The Communication Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of a communications plan for the Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation (SMCF). The plan should detail ways to increase SMCF’s: donor base, events, education of referral agencies, sponsors, and volunteer recruitment, as well to strengthen its media relations. The Communication Coordinator will also play an integral part in planning. creating and executing any press release, social media or media responsibilities attached to any event, campaign or launch the charity may do during their tenure. They will play a key role in the delivery of SMCF’s “Send-A-Kid-To-Camp”, PLAY Program and “Bursary Program” message with a focus on raising its profile in the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin.

The Communication Coordinator will be responsible for:

- Develop and assist with the implementing of strategies designed to increase SMCF’s donor base, events, education of referral agencies, sponsors, and volunteer recruitment as well as maintain contact with current and new volunteers.
- Assisting with the strengthening all public affairs aspects of SMCF’s 3 programs
- Assisting the Executive Director with the SWAT evaluation of SMCF’s 3 Programs to improve SMCF’s Programs.
- Assisting the Executive Director with the training and supervising of seasonal staff and volunteers.
- Organize the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photos, and social media campaigns. Keep all SMCF social media venues current and relevant.
- Assist with writing and editing press releases, in-house newsletters, speeches, blogs, and e-newsletters.
- Assist SMCF, when necessary, with general office duties, mail campaigns, fundraisers, program requirements and events.

Skill Qualifications desired for the position are as follows:

- Demonstrated skills in promotional development, marketing, and public relations.
- Experience with grant writing, community building work; organizing and executing special events.
- Experience in working with committees and volunteer recruitment.
- Strong interpersonal, networking, public speaking, and communication skills.
- Website and social media site maintenance skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s licence and is in good standing.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and committed.
- Bilingual language (French and English)skills an asset
- One-year, full time position.
