**Scope of the Position**:
The Women and HIV/AIDS Community Development Coordinator works with designated local communities to build local community capacity. This work responds to women’s HIV/AIDS related needs, seeking to improve the quality of life for women living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The incumbent works with diverse agencies, organizations, and groups that serve women, to advance the Women and HIV/AIDS Initiative.
**Accountability**:
The incumbent is accountable to the Executive Director.
**Qualifications**
**Knowledge**:
- Demonstrated experience in and working knowledge of health promotion or community development.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.
- Thorough understanding of HIV/AIDS, safer sex, and harm reduction principles and practices.
- Strong knowledge of women’s health and gender equity issues.
- Strong knowledge of and commitment to sexual and reproductive rights.
**Skills**:
- Strong program management, delivery, and evaluation, community mobilization or development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Decision making skills.
- Team building.
- Computer skills: facility with Excel, Word, Power Point, Canva and Social Media platforms.
- Stress management skills.
- CPR/Naloxone administration Training Required.
- Ability to fundraise effectively through proposal writing and through existing and future agency fundraisers.

**Responsibilities and Related Tasks**:
- **Community Development**_
- Identifies local community organizations and groups that serve women within the geographic boundary served by your agency. (For some programs the geographical boundary will be determined by the AIDS Bureau).
- Acts as a liaison between AIDS Service Organizations and local community organizations in advancing women and HIV/AIDS-related initiatives.
- Establishes, facilitates, and maintains collaborative partnership opportunities with local community organizations and groups that serve women.
- Participates in local community planning initiatives related to women’s issues and promote integration of HIV/AIDS into programs, services, and policies-procedures.
- **Community Education & Training**_
- Delivers educational training and workshop modules to local agencies and groups that serve women, with the aim of increasing their capacity to integrate HIV/AIDS prevention services.
- Makes presentations on a broad range of HIV-related issues impacting women, including safer sex, safer drug use, harm reduction, and HIV POZ prevention.
- Evaluates and modifies training modules and workshops to ensure the goals of the program are achieved and the needs of those requesting training are met.
- **Research & Program Evaluation**_
- Gathers and documents accurate data to complete reports required by the AIDS Bureau, Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care (For example, the Ontario Community HIV/AIDS Reporting Tool (OCHART).
- Monitors and evaluates program activities to ensure optimal quality of service delivery to local communities.
- Identifies and responds to emerging issues related to HIV/AIDS and women’s health by engaging in community-based research and/or needs assessments, as required.
- **Resource Development & Distribution **_
- Maintains and distributes current resource materials and other HIV/AIDS and harm reduction tools (e.g. female condoms) to community partners, as required.
- **Other Duties**_
- Advances the values, principles, and priorities of related provincial strategies, including the Strategy on HIV/AIDS for African and Caribbean Communities in Ontario and the Ontario Aboriginal HIV/AIDS Strategy, as appropriate.
- Respond to requests to provide consultation and advice to local community agencies’ clients living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and facilitate linkages with local AIDS Service Organizations for care, treatment, and support.
- Participate as an active member of your agency’s staff team, including participation in program planning, coordination, and collaboration with other staff.
- Performs other tasks, as assigned by management and within the guidelines approved by the AIDS Bureau, Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care.

**Working Conditions**
- Office work, sitting and using office equipment and computers which may impact muscle strain (physical demands), eyestrain or result in headaches (sensory demands). May have to do light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
