**About The Role**
The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for increasing revenue from planned giving by developing, implementing and evaluating marketing strategies to inspire donors to leave a gift in their will and manages relationships with existing donors. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, and working with other staff and volunteers as required, the Philanthropy Officer uses relationship management, administration, marketing and problem solving skills to enhance the planned giving program.
Duties Include:
- Developing and managing a portfolio of planned giving donors by managing and cultivating relationships with individual donors, analyzing donor information to prioritize donors, and monitoring donor engagement and stewardship strategies to bring forward new opportunities.
- Growing the planned giving portfolio by developing and implementing planned giving marketing and acquisition strategies, responding to indications of interest in planned giving from donors and managing relationships with allied planned giving professionals.
- Increasing efficiency in estate administration by developing and maintaining an administration system using software to facilitate the moves management strategy, and identifying opportunities for improving efficiencies in administration.
- Planning and managing budgets together with the Director of Philanthropy by participating in annual planning and budget development, reforecasting for the planned giving program as required, and conducting analysis and reports on quarterly targets.
- Maintaining knowledge of federal and provincial estate, trust and tax laws that impact planned giving.
**Role Success**
Typically, we find that people who succeed in this role bring:
- At least 3+ years of direct experience in fundraising, planned or legacy giving, and/or donor relations.
- A commitment to inclusive, authentic communication and ethical fundraising practices, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate professionally to build strong relationships with donors, professional advisors and colleagues.
- Proficiency in fundraising software, reporting and databases; Raiser’s Edge experience is an asset.
- A collaborative approach both internally and externally and demonstrate strong relationship building skills.
- Knowledge of Imagine Canada and AFP Ethical Fundraising Code - Code of Ethics and Accountability and CRA regulations.
