Chilliwack, Canada Stolo Aboriginal Skills & Employment Training Full time

Stó:lō Service Agency (SSA) requires the services of a qualified Program Officer to fill a vacancy with the Stó:lō Aboriginal Skills & Employment Training (SASET) Department. Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry. Please self-identify on your cover letter or resume.

The Program Officer will: a) establish/maintain working relationships with First Nations communities and organizations and encourage partnerships related to employment/training and trades; b) promote programs and initiatives supported by the Indigenous Skills & Employment Training (ISET) funding agreement; c) as directed, review proposals and recommend appropriate action for their approval to the SASET Advisory Committee; d) prepare contracts and related documentation pertaining to all approved community proposals, and e) monitoring and evaluation of the contracts within established policies of ISET programming and budget allocations.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

- Post-Secondary education and/or equivalent 3 years of training and experience in program administration, proposal review and contract negotiations/monitoring.
- Familiarity with the Indigenous Skills & Employment Training Contribution Agreement, SASET catchment area, First Nation community’s culture, and working knowledge of First Nations economic, social, and political issues.
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Willingness to travel within the service area and to external agencies when required.
- Skills and experience in developing proposals, negotiating contracts and contract monitoring/reporting.
- Strong computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, and organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community staff, members, and representatives of other organizations.
- Must adhere to the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff, SASET and SSA.
- Proof of education documentation
- Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License
- Must successfully pass the required pre-employment RCMP Criminal records Checks (one from the Criminal Records Review, and one from the RCMP)
- SSA has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, requiring all staff to be vaccinated.

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
