**Type of Position **:Full Time, Fixed Term Contract (1 year)

**Location & Hours **:Based at Lheidli T’enneh First Nations (Naje Baiyoh - House of Healing) Health Centre, approximately 22kM away from downtown Prince George, Monday to Friday 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM, 37.5 hrs./week.

**General Description**

Reporting to the Health Manager, the Land Based Healing Coordinator will assist Lheidli T’enneh with Land-Based activities. They will provide coordination and support for community harvesting, opportunities, resources, and applicable Land-Based education and skills. The Land Based Healing Coordinator will promote cultural awareness, skills with cultural safety and humility within the Lheidli T’enneh Nation while promoting healing and reconciliation. The Land Based Healing Coordinator develops and implements land-based healing activities - recognizing the healing power of nature and the return to the land as a way of connecting individuals to Dakelh culture and language. The primary role of the position is to enhance and expand culturally based, culturally safe and trauma informed healing with the target clientele being youth, individuals, and families of the Lheidli T’enneh Nation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Connect with elders and or traditional knowledge holders to coordinate and revitalize ceremonial practices and customs of the Lheidli T’enneh people.
- Support the planning of traditional drumming, singing, community or seasonal celebrations/feasts, traditional and social events.
- Coordinate culture/social nights and community feasts, elder socials, and elder appreciation activities and Elder/Youth knowledge exchange/mentorship activities.
- Coordinate Land-Based harvest activities, e.g., fishing, trapping, etc.
- Provide space and opportunities for traditional arts & crafting,
- Acquire, maintain, and care for education tools and resources e.g., language resources, history books, art, and traditional and sacred items.
- Coordinate traditional food education, e.g., teachings on health benefits, harvesting, growing, preparing, storing.
- Promotion of language restoration and learning opportunities
- Develop work plans and reports to the Health Manager for traditional wellness programs.
- Develop/maintain effective working relationships with community members, colleagues, and partner agencies.
- Deliver land-based healing activities.
- Lead the development of program materials, reports, and communications.
- Performs all other related duties as required/assigned.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Knowledge and use of plants and medicines, ceremonial activity, and sharing circles.
- Experience working in the education field and land-based activities is an asset.
- Experience developing and delivering educational programming, specifically in land-based learning activities.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook).
- Strong presentation skills and ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Strong public relations skills and ability to build strong working relationships and networks of support.
- Must have a comprehensive understanding of Indigenous issues, barriers, and challenges from the damaging effects of colonization and residential school experiences on Indigenous people.
- Work well with others and can work independently.
- Conflict resolution and mediation skills training are assets.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Possess or be willing to attain a valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Willing to undergo a criminal and vulnerable sector check.
