The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) has grown and continues to be one of the largest and busiest community service delivery agencies in Prince George. Our clientele of Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples have supported the Centre's program offerings for the last 50 years. We offer a wide variety of services, which includes education, employment, health, early childhood, and social programs.

Join our Native Healing Centre team as an:
**Mental Health / Outreach Worker**

**Native Healing Centre - Health Services**

You will be available to assist clients within Prince George with their day to day well-being, connecting them with services to support with housing, health, and employment needs. You will be in the field providing community/street client-centered outreach to individuals who are in need of mental health supports but who are experiencing accessibility challenges. This approach will embrace harm reduction practise with culturally responsive support, resource identification and recreational, social and emotional activities. You will serve as a first contact and conduct intake to determine client needs and assist clients in connecting with established services/resources to meet their immediate needs. This approach will involve evening and weekend shifts. This position will work in tandem with an additional worker and be based out of the Native Healing Centre and within our Supportive Housing Department.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- BSW or related degree. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Food Safe, Class 4 Driver's License, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
- Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
- Experience in culturally responsive services.
- Ability to work outdoors and understand harm reduction as a practice.
- Have knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices.
- Utilize a strength-based approach to work with clients.
- Ability to motivate others towards achieving their personal goals.
- Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open minded qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries.
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate, mentoring participants within the context of their identity, family, community, tribe, history, culture, and traditions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with program clients.
- A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both participant and fellow employees; Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients.
- Ability to work independently and a part of a team.
