**Mentoring Coordinator - Site Based Group Programs**

**POSTION SUMMARY**:
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
Being responsible for assisting the Executive Director, Service Delivery in meeting organizational objectives, the Mentoring Coordinator is accountable for fulfilling the following expectations:
The Mentoring Coordinator is able to work effectively independently and as part of a team. This includes the agency staff as well as Bigs, Littles, parent/guardians and community partners.

The Mentoring Coordinator will work with community partners to plan and implement group programming at various locations across Halifax county.

While the groups are active, the Mentoring Coordinator conducts ongoing evaluation of the group programs to ensure objectives are being met and participants being supported.

The Mentoring Coordinator also works with the rest of the staff team to provide fun and engaging opportunities for Bigs, Littles, and parent/guardians to connect with the agency.

Individuals working in the Mentoring Coordinator role should also expect to be involved in ongoing learning and education as new research and best-practices for mentoring programs develop.

All Big Brothers Big Sisters staff are expected to attend and support the various agency events, such as Bowl For Kids Sake, Annual General Meeting, and other fundraising or public relations events.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Child & Youth Work, Child & Youth Studies, Social Work, or similar field. An equivalent combination of education and 2 or more years of relevant experience may also be acceptable.

Experience working with children, youth, and families in a direct service role would be considered an asset.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
Mentoring Coordinators are regularly required to work evenings and weekends in the normal execution of the job requirements, including a variety of agency events and activities. The position requires ability to work from home, a busy office environment and in the community.

**All staff are required to travel using their own vehicle to various destinations within Halifax Regional Municipality to meet job requirements, with mileage paid.**
