Senior Accountant

Job Description Our client a rapidly growing and entrepreneurial manufacturing company in Dartmouth is seeking a Senior Accountant to help shape their financial operations and support exciting growth across the business. This newly created role comes as a result of the company’s rapid expansion and continued success and will oversee core accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision‑making. The role also includes supervision of an Accounts Payable Clerk. Key Responsibilities Oversee full‑cycle accounting including general ledger, accounts payable / receivable, payroll and month‑ and year‑end processes. Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts and variance reports in accordance with ASPE / GAAP. Monitor and control manufacturing costs and maintain cost accounting systems. Ensure compliance with tax requirements, prepare filings and liaise with auditors and external partners. Develop and maintain internal controls, policies and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Provide financial insights, risk assessments and recommendations to support business planning and growth. Support ERP evaluation and implementation, process automation and other strategic initiatives. Qualifications and Attributes for Success Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business (CPA designation or in progress is strongly preferred). Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in manufacturing or product‑based industries is considered an asset. Knowledge of cost accounting and reporting is an asset. Proficiency with technology in general and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, leadership and communication abilities. Adaptable, organized and attention to detail are key as the company is rapidly growing and developing new processes to support.
