Montreal, Canada Lightspeed Commerce Full time
Hi there Thanks for stopping by

Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Well… you might just be in the right place

A key to driving the success of our growing brand awareness is building a robust communication framework that keeps the market and the media informed and engaged to elevate the Lightspeed brand. That’s why we’re looking for a Bilingual Sr Specialist, Public Relations, to join our global Global Communications team.

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, you will be responsible for helping build Lightspeed's brand and influence. You are a seasoned communications professional, with experience in building media relations programs in Canada and the US, who will further hone our corporate storytelling through multi-year campaigns driven by thought leadership and strong storytelling.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and drive corporate and industry stories in North America, and our home province of Quebec, that advance Lightspeed’s narrative and influence.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and senior industry leaders on their efforts to communicate with media in ways that reflect Lightspeed’s goals and values, including product updates and opportunities for customer, partner, and data storytelling.
  • Work closely with the Director of Public Relations, shape Lightspeed’s point- of-view on policy-related topics in Canada and the US, and grow the company’s profile among relevant business and enterprise technology press as well as mainstream media.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reporters and influencers in the tech and business space.
  • Write, edit, and produce communications for external audiences including but not limited to presentations, press releases, briefing documents, and bylines.
  • Edit communications from press partners and agencies and make recommendations to ensure messaging is consistent with global comms strategy and tone.
  • Coordinate with data science and business analyst teams as well as external vendors to cultivate a calendar of data science opportunities tied to product announcements and tent pole events.
  • Bring a creative, hard-working, and open mindset that’s focused on creating solutions and opportunities through comms activities.
  • Find creative ways to bring Lightspeed and our industries closer to their customers and inject Lightspeed’s vision and product roadmap into the news cycle.
  • Work with our senior leaders around issues management and crisis communications.

What you need to bring:

  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills both in French and English
  • 3-5+ years experience in public relations / communications
  • Proven ability to work independently, be resourceful and exercise good judgment in fast-paced, dynamic environments, as well as the ability to escalate appropriately
  • Ability to work directly with senior executives and inspire confidence
  • Relationships with media in Canada and Quebec’s top tier media outlets
  • Crisis and reputation management
  • Strong project management skills
  • Approach the job with a positive attitude, collaborative sensibility, attention to detail, sense of curiosity, and a growth mindset

Even better if you have, but not necessary:

  • Experience working on a global team and managing global campaigns
  • Previously worked for a public trading company

We know that people are more than what’s on their CV. If you’re unsure that you have the right profile for the role... hit the ‘Apply’ button and give it a try

What’s in it for you?

Come live the Lightspeed experience...

  • Ability to do your job in a truly flexible environment;
  • Genuine career opportunities in a company that’s creating new jobs everyday;
  • Work in a team big enough for growth but lean enough to make a real impact.

… and enjoy a range of benefits that’ll keep you happy, healthy and (not) hungry:

  • Lightspeed share scheme (we are all owners)
  • Immediate access to our benefits plan
  • RRSP match after 3 months
  • Fitness & Wellness benefit: $500 CAD per calendar year
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
  • Parental leave Top-Up programs
