The Safety Advisor is a key member of the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA), providing members with expert advisory services in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). Promoting ACSA tools, resources, and programs, this role delivers tailored program and policy guidance aligning with member needs. The Safety Advisor represents ACSA at stakeholder forums, collaborates to improve ACSA’s internal safety systems, improving the member experience through professional, member-first service. Duties and Responsibilities Promote ACSA tools, resources, and programs, coach members on tailored OHS programs and policies recommendations aligning to their unique operational needs. Address member inquiries and concerns promptly by phone, email, and in person. Represent ACSA at stakeholder meetings, working groups, committees, and speaking events. Serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating on project work, guiding safety standards while enhancing the ACSA member experience. Collaborate with the ACSA Safety Committee Members, providing recommendations to enhance the health and safety management system. Promote evidence-based decision-making by staying informed with the latest news, tools, and industry trends. Provide operational support for COR Audit Review Analysts during peak periods and vacation coverage. Represent Your ACSA’s brand consistently and professionally, while demonstrating integrity, honesty, confidentiality, and respect in all interactions. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or related area. Auditor certification. National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation. Canadian Registered Safety designation is considered an asset. End‑user safety training (H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Confined Space or related) is considered an asset. Experience 7+ years of related experience in health and safety within a high‑risk industry such as construction or oil & gas. 2+ years' experience in leadership/mentorship role is considered an asset. Required skills and abilities Advanced knowledge of OHS programs, standards, processes, and compliance requirements, including COR, SECOR, TLC, hygiene, risk, and SIF. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in online contractor registries and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently as a strong and contributing member in a team environment. Creative thinking and problem‑solving, with a focus on process and program improvement. Ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and priorities in a dynamic, regulated environment. Logistics This position requires a 40‑hour work week. This role is eligible for a hybrid work model (ACSA Edmonton office). This role reports to the Director of Member Services. Travel, evening, and weekend/after-hours work as required. While performing duties on‑site, the employee may be exposed to various environmental conditions.
