Responsibilities Support Month‑End Close by preparing and reviewing journal entries and analyze balance sheet activities. Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and trends to support operational decision‑making. Prepare monthly financial reports, forecasts, and budgets for Specialties Ontario Plants. Assist Controllers with special projects and assignments. Track and report on capital expenditures and project ROI. Support inventory valuation, standard costing, and cycle count analysis. Assist in the development of annual operating plans and long‑range forecasts. Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX and corporate financial policies. Guarantee that the financial information produced is reliable and complete. Adhere to the internal control structure to minimize the business risks inherent in operations or fraud. Relevant Experience & Strengths Experience with standard costing, variance analysis (material, labor, overhead), and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting. Familiarity with raw material cost tracking (e.g., pulp, chemicals, energy) Ability to develop strong partnerships with production, maintenance, and supply chain teams to align financial goals with operational performance. Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and inventory management tools. Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights. Proactive in identifying inefficiencies and recommending cost saving measures. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work well and communicate with others. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration or similar degree required. Progress toward CPA designation highly desirable. 1‑3 years’ experience in financial analysis, combination of work and education will be considered. Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing operations. Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems and financial modeling.
