The Shop at NAIT Team Lead is a key leader within the bookstore team. Your time will be spent leading both front-of-house and supporting back-of-house operations. This role provides daily direction to customer experience and warehouse staff, ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to and that goods and services move through our warehouse in a timely manner. The Team Lead engages with the store’s overall customer environment and provides oversight for stock area replenishment in a fast-paced retail setting. The role may require evenings and weekends and represents NAIT in a positive, professional manner toward achieving institutional goals. If you have leadership passion, a drive for exemplary service, enjoy interacting with people, value teamwork, and take pride in a job well done, we welcome your application.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a role model and provide daily direction to team members (front and back of house) to complete tasks in a timely, accurate manner with a positive attitudeLead in loss prevention while training, inspiring, and coaching team membersLead area teams to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and adherence to policies, procedures and key metrics (e.g., labour, inventory adjustments)Lead the customer experience team in resolving digital integration issuesBe flexible to pivot and anticipate business needs while adapting the service model as requiredProvide feedback to Managers and Supervisors on staff performanceSupport staff scheduling and monitor labour costsSupport customer experience functions, including active engagement with customers, processing sales, resolving concerns, demonstrating product knowledge, and maintaining a welcoming store environmentOversee inventory management to ensure proper stock rotation and reduce redundanciesSupport the warehouse team with daily/weekly workload where neededPromote non-academic product lines (e.g., apparel and giftware)Oversee administrative duties, including processing packing slips, maintaining inventory records, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring invoices align with purchase orders and audit standardsAssist with receiving, counting, and merchandising processesSkills & AbilitiesStrong communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills for a large team and high customer interactionAbility to travel to NAIT satellite campuses as required (license an asset)Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with a Retail Inventory Management SystemAbility to lift boxes up to 50 lbs and to stand/walk for a majority of each shiftQualificationsCompletion of grade 12 or equivalentRelated post-secondary education preferred (customer service or supervisory training)Previous key holder experience in retail or customer service an asset3+ years of leadership experience in a customer-focused field is an asset3–5 years of retail experience in stockroom and front-of-house preferredProficiency with standard computer programs (Microsoft Office) and ability to operate/troubleshoot POS systemsApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have credentials evaluated by WES, IQAS, or CES.Remuneration: $36,976.80 - $45,998.40 annually (based on a 35-hour work week), plus a comprehensive benefits package.
